Cabin In The Woods’ Drew Goddard To Direct Spider-Man Spin-Off

There’s talk that Drew Goddard will direct the new Spider-Man spin-off movie, The Sinister Six. According to, Goddard would also be writing the script and is currently in the process of negotiations for directing the spin-off.

This is only the first in a series of movies to be based on Spider-Man, so, the public should expect more of where The Sinister Six came from. The title of the future movie refers to Spider-Man’s arch-enemies Doctor Octopus, Electro, Gog, Hobgoblin, Mysterio, and Vulture. The movie would focus on Venom, who already played the role in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.

Goddard became famous with his directional debut The Cabin in the Woods, a satirical horror movie that follows the storyline of five young people in a secluded wood cabin. He is now going to be a part of the team of five writers for the Spider-Man spin-offs – along with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Ed Solomon – who will oversee each other during the script writing collaboration.

Goddard is also a member of another group of authors who worked to put Spider-Man on the big screen. The “Spider-Man franchise brain trust” is home to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb along with Goddard, as well as two producers and four other writers, who are set to work together to create a box office hit. Spider-Man franchise is one of Sony’s most lucrative brands, as the trilogy has cashed in $ 2.5 billion in total, so the producers believe the spin-off will net in some significant earnings.
