Everything You Need To Know About ‘Gone Girl’

With a runtime of two and half hours this David Finchers’ (Alien³, Se7en, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button…) masterpiece is a movie that envelops you and takes you into its own world. Then it manipulates you just as life would and finally you’re left to draw your own conclusions about the whole thing…

Based on an extremely popular book by Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl has a story that’s a bit too complex to be described in just a few sentences, but we’ll try: On their five year anniversary Nick Dunne reports his wife, Amy, as missing. Soon the media and police take over and then chaos ensues. A whirlwind of emotions and twists leaves characters and viewers in a very strange state.

Suspenseful atmosphere is the trademark of all Finchers movies, and in Gone Girl that suspense is broken by engaging dialogues and intriguing characters. You can’t help but wonder about human nature and your own environment. The transference is strong with this one. Not to mention excellent acting by both Ben Afleck and Rosamund Pike.

This was confirmed when Rosamund Pike landed an Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
