Forget The Remake: Taking Of Pelham 123

The thing with the remake of Taking of Pelham 123 with Denzel and Travolta is that it is not really that bad. Sure, it is a dumb movie that tries too hard to be cool, but it pulls it off at times. The problem with this remake is that the 1970s original was just so incredibly, unbelievably cool and sleek that everything pales in comparison.

The sheer sight of Walter Matthau in that shirt and that tie, the way he handles everything that is thrown his way, the scary villains, the cool 1970s New York City and its subway… It all makes for a combination that is just perfect and works so well.

And then there is the ending.. It’s so extraordinary and funny that it is just side-splitting.

Simply put, forget about the remake!
