Jurassic World Has Record-Breaking Opening Weekend

We all knew that it was going to be a huge hit, but we didn’t know it was going to be this big. The new Jurassic World movie absolutely lit up the box office this weekend and set some records in the process.

It seems that the world is hungry for more dinosaur movies, considering that the franchise has not put out a movie in 13 years.

The numbers speak for themselves, though. The movie had the third best selling Friday of all time, right behind Age of Ultron and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. It also took home records for the second highest domestic opening of all time and second highest foreign opening.

However, the record-setting magic happens when you combine the two. When combining how much Jurassic World made internationally and domestically in the first weekend, you get $512 million. This is the biggest global opening of all time and the first ever movie to debut and make over a half a million internationally in its first weekend.
