Lee Daniels Calls Off Appearance At Tribeca Festival

Famous director Lee Daniels has cancelled his appearance in an in-depth interview at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival in New York. He won’t be able to attend the interview due to a schedule conflict.

The plan he won’t be able to execute was to sit down with U.S. newswoman Robin Roberts and discuss his ups and downs during his career, as part of the Tribeca Talks: Director Series scheduled for Friday, April 18th. However, the event has now been cancelled.

The festival bosses released a statement, saying:

“Because of an unanticipated schedule conflict, Lee Daniels regretfully has to cancel his appearance on Friday, April 18th.”

“We apologize for this change, refunds will be submitted to those who purchased a ticket to attend Tribeca Talks: Directors Series with Lee Daniels and Robin Roberts.”

The series will also present interviews with Ron Howard, Kevin Spacey, Michael Douglas and Shep Gordon.

The 2014 edition will kick off on Wednesday, April 16th, and will run until April 27th.

Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff, allegedly in response to the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the loss of vitality in the Tribeca area in Lower Manhattan.

Although there are reports that state the founding was in the making prior to the events of 9/11.
