Nightmare On Elm Street Director Wes Craven Dies At 76



Wes Craven, one of the most famous horror directors of all time, died at his Los Angeles home on Sunday from brain cancer. He was 76 years old.

Craven, who gained worldwide recognition for reinventing the teen horror genre, created some of the best slasher movies ever, including the legendary Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, as well as the hugely popular Scream franchise. He forever changed the horror universe when the first movie featuring Freddy Krueger was released in 1984, starring Johnny Depp.

Some of Craven’s other notable films include The Hills Have Eyes, The Serpent and the Rainbow and The People under the Stairs.

He is survived by his wife Iya Labunka, son Johnathan and daughter Jessica.
