Rob Lowe Believes Hot Actors Are Victims Of Bias

Of course, not every pretty actor gets overlooked. There are people like Brad Pitt who have been good looking all of their lives and have constantly been given demanding roles.

However, there might be different categories of good looking men as well in Hollywood. Perhaps there is a difference in the roles given to men with rugged good looks, and men who simply look too pretty. Lowe, unfortunately happened to fall into the category of pretty most of the time.

He claims that he’s a victim of an industry bias! According to Lowe, hot or “pretty” actors are looked over for more serious roles. His thinking stems from his experience with directors and producers.

The star of Parks and Recreation is the source of affection for millions of fans out there, but that has been a bad omen for him in the movie industry.

Lowe insists that actors that have less demanding roles in sappy films are then remembered as such for the rest of their lives. If an actor wants to land a job in a movie that is to be nominated, he must start digging for it in the early days. Glamorous actors do so, but he began to look for it, perhaps too late.

Many actors choose not to take any roles that would, later in life create an aura of bad impressions. Lowe does not like to be labeled only as a hot eye piece for girls, or a player, for that matter, since he believes there’s more to him than just a pretty face.

He tells Times Magazine that “There’s this unbelievable bias and prejudice against quote-unquote good-looking people, that they can’t be in pain or they can’t have rough lives or be deep or interesting. They can’t be any of the things that you long to play as an actor. I’m getting to play those parts now and loving it. When I was a teen idol, I was so goddamn pretty I wouldn’t have taken myself seriously.”
