Straight Outta Compton Rakes In $111.5M In Just Two Weeks

Universal’s N.W.A biopic turned out to be a huge box office success, finishing number one for two consecutive weeks and earning an estimated $111.5 million since the movie’s release.

According to studio estimates Sunday, Straight Outta Compton raked in around $26.8 million in ticket sales over the weekend, having by far the most success out of all the late August releases, including Sinister 2, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Hitman: Agent 47.

It seems that Straight Outta Compton will continue to dominate the box office in the weeks to come, despite renewed charges of misogyny in N.W.A’s lyrics and the fact that the movie failed to mention that Dr. Dre has a history of abuse towards women.

On the other hand, the rapper and producer of the movie apologized to all the women he has hurt in a statement Friday. He continued to say that he deeply regrets his past actions and knows that they have ‘forever impacted all of our lives.’
