“The Martian” Gets Thumbs Up From Actual Astronaut

If you are going to ask someone about how realistic a movie about space travel is, then you should go right to the source. And according to Rick Mastracchio, who has spent 228 days in space and did 53 hours of actual spacewalking, “The Martian” is a pretty excellent movie.

Apparently, people who have been to space get to watch movies about going to space before everyone else, so that they can give suggestions about making the atmosphere more realistic. So Mastracchio got to see the new Matt Damon movie and said that he loved it.

In the movie, which everyone is hyped for, Matt Damon plays an astronaut who is stranded all alone on Mars and needs to figure out a way to survive. The movie was directed by the legendary Ridley Scott and it’s based on the best-selling book of the same name written by Andy Weir. The movie is out in theaters on October 2.
